TN Visa for Canadian & Mexican Professionals

What is a TN Visa?

TN visa is a nonimmigrant classification  for certain Mexican and Canadian professionals seeking to work in the United States temporarily in approved occupations listed under USMCA.

Duration & Extension

TN status may be granted for up to three years at a time and may be renewed or extended repeatedly, if eligibility continues.  

Extension may be requested through USCIS, or;

Alternatively, in some cases by departure from U.S. and reentering with adequate documents.

This visa is specifically for Citizens of Mexico and Canada.

Qualifying professions as listed on the USMCA only – each profession has specific education requirements, i.e. bachelor’s degree or professional license requirement.

Job offer from a U.S. employer is required

The TN position must be real and existing with a fixed term duration with duties and job qualifications must be specified.
